Abstract
In L. subu-lata, residual vascular tissue in the apex of the inflorescence disappears by fusion with the bundle supply to the apical flower in the manner previously descr. for inflorescences of Fumarioideae [see B. A. 7(7): entry 16926]. The residual vascular tissue in the apex of the flower in A. nobilis fuses with the strand supplying the posterior petal. It is possible that the mode of disappearance of apical shoot bundles described here may be confined to reproductive shoots. A minute bundle from a composite strand in some of the flowers may be interpreted as a trace of the tenth stamen. (See also Saunders Annals of Botany 4: 629-633 and Joshi 664-669 abstracted below.).
