Abstract
The 1971 population mean marrow dose and leukaemia significant dose from beam-therapy in Japan were estimated. The estimation was made on the basis of a nation wide survey. The leukaemia significant dose was calculated by adopting a weighting factor, which takes account of the shape of the time-incidence curve of radiation-induced leukaemia at Hiroshima due to A-bomb, and the survival statistics for the various age groups in the population. The population mean marrow dose was 45 and 161 mrad/person/yr for males and females, respectively, with a total of 206 mrad/person/yr. The leukaemia significant dose was 7 and 30 mrad/person/yr for males and females, respectively, with a total of 37 mrad/person/yr.Keywords
