Rehabilitation as a Function of Nursing

Abstract
The shortcomings of the usual pattern of geriatric ward organization, and its failure to give the nurse a proper understanding of rehabilitation are discussed. The reorganization carried out in geriatric wards in Fife are described, where the work of the nurse is now integrated with that of the medical auxiliary staff. Little attention is given to this aspect of nursing in the training of the Registered Nurse, and methods to remedy this situation are given.
