Abstract
Feulgen''s test demonstrates the amount and disposition of chromatin in the oocytes of Apanteles. Basophilic structures of true chromatinic origin arc easily distinguished from other basophilic granules found in the cytoplasm. Both secondary nuclei and germ-cell determinant react negatively to this test, indicating their origin from something other than chromatin. Basophilic constituents are not dissolved away by acid hydrolysis. The germinal vesicle at the end of prophases of heterotypic divisions reacts negatively because its chromatin is too finely divided.
