Abstract
The intrahepatic circulation was obstructed by aseptically injecting vinyl acetate dissolved in acetone into the portal vein, branch of portal vein, hepatic artery, or branch of hepatic artery of dogs. This blockade of the portal vein branches caused passive congestion of the liver; blockage of the hepatic artery branches led to anemic infarction and hepatic necrosis. Following extrahepatic blockade of the hepatic artery the liver survived well on blood derived through the phrenic arteries. Thus the injected vinyl acetate apparently blocked the hepatic blood supply from both the hepatic arteries and the phrenic arteries. Keywords
