Abstract
The article examines the use of the term ‘community˚s as it is revealed in literature about Higher Education. With the help of sociological analysis a categorisation of four models of ‘community˚s is proposed. Each model is related to a particular style of interaction and to a theory of learning in Higher Education. The article finally proposes an alternative model based on the concept of working together in a joint action.
