Abstract
Lincomycin is effective against staphylococci, including penicillinase-producing strains, pneumococci, and certain streptococci. It is useful for treating infections caused by susceptible bacteria when the organism is resistant to penicillin or erythromycin, or when the patient is allergic to these antibiotics. The most common untoward effects are gastrointestinal disturbances after oral administration of the drug.
