Abstract
This transient method is based on the measurement of the temperature rise at a point in the sample liquid under a thin metal plate resulting from stepwise electrical heating of the plate and is also applicable to general nonmetallic liquids. The theoretical analysis of the method was performed and the apparatus was constructed on the basis of this principle. The measurements for distilled water were made first and the results agreed well with standard values. The thermal diffusivities of molten NaNO3 at 310-410 degrees C and of molten NaNO2 at 280-310 degrees C were measured. Keywords
