Buried Pesticide Waste Hazard To Poland

Abstract
The utilization of pesticides during the last 30 years in Poland has left some hundreds of thousands of tonnes of highly toxic waste, creating an alarming situation for nature and man. This pesticide waste, which has been buried under less than ideal conditions throughout the entire country, is leaching out of many of its containers and is endangering the groundwater and general environment. The extent and the impact of this contamination is unknown. As a result of a shortage of finances and general national and international indifference, a suitable method of cleaning up this waste has not yet been found.
