Percutaneous Transluminal Treatment of Arteriosclerotic Obstruction

Abstract
A new method for the treatment of arteriosclerotic obstruction has been described. In brief, this consists of the percutaneous transluminal probing and catheter -dilatation of the narrowed or obstructed lumen. Transluminal therapy should be attempted prior to amputation for arteriosclerotic ischemia of the foot. It appears to represent a new, rational, and effective approach to the clinical management of the mechanical basis of arteriosclerotic ischemia.
