Abstract
Based on collections of larvae and emerging adults, three to four emergences of Culicoides variipennis (Coquillett) were observed at two central New York sites in 1980 and 1981. Overwintered larvae (primarily 3rd and 4th instars) emerged from late April through May. Subsequent generations emerged from mid-June to late July and from early August to late September. Population size tended to increase through the season and was highest in July and August. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
