Abstract
Improved methods in the various operations for the production of ductile zirconium from zircon sands are described. They are essentially an improved method of producing the zirconium carbide from zircon sand by use of an arc furnace and the melting of zirconium metal in graphite crucibles. The slight carbon contamination apparently does not appreciably impair the working properties of the metal. Other improvements are refinements of the process as described in an earlier publication. Keywords
