Abstract
Techniques for processing pictorial information by computer are surveyed. The topics covered include efficient encoding and approximation; position-invariant operations and applications; picture properties useful for pattern recognition; picture segmentation and geometrical properties of picture subsets; picture descrlptmn and "picture languages." bandwidth compression, efficient encoding, approximation, position-invariant operation, parallel computers, optical computers, matched filtering, template matching, spatml filtering, image restoration, image enhancement, picture properties, segmentation, geometrical pro perties, picture description, picture languages CR categories" 3 63Keywords
