Abstract
The origin of chromosomal materials in rapidly segmenting eggs may be the following: In eggs formed by nurse cells or germinal vesicles, the cytoplasm contains the products of thousands of maternal chromosomes, in the form of proteins and nucleoproteins. Hence in the rapid building up of cleavage chromosomes in segmenting eggs the process may be a reassembling of built-up materials rather than a synthesis from simple substances. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
