Abstract
The apparatus consists of a number of ordinary vacuum dessicators with a special compartment for the animals. The CO2 is absorbed by soda-lime barriers and the O2 consumption is recorded manometrically. This is suitable for 7 or 8 mice or 1 or 2 rats. It is unsatisfactory for smaller numbers. The method is suitable for demonstrating the anti-thyroxine effects of thyroxine analogs, but it has proved disappointing for the quantitative assay of thyroidal activity. Keywords
