Abstract
SUMMARY: The uterus involutes more rapidly in ovariectomized than in hypophysectomized rats (experimental period 4–90 days), while removal of the ovaries hastens uterine involution after hypophysectomy (experimental period 22–60 days). The inference is that the ovary produces small amounts of oestrogen in the absence of the pituitary. Keywords
