Abstract
P. taxifolia was introduced into Britain in 1827 and the tract studied was planted in 1864. The New Forest inclosure was planted about 1864. For the past 20 yrs. reproduction has occurred in many places and there is every indication that it may become fully naturalized. Good seed production has occurred at intervals of 3-5 yrs. and establishment seems to be largely detd. by the presence of a carpet of coniferous litter. Bare mineral soil is also suitable. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
