The electrical resistivity and thermopower of pure and of hydrogen-charged barium

Abstract
Data for the electrical resistivity (ρ) and thermopower (S) are presented for pure and H-charged Ba from 300 to 750 K. The ρ data for pure Ba differ from previous values in that they show no evidence of a phase transition at any temperature. Charging Ba with H causes ρ to increase by an amount which is sharply temperature dependent and related to the solubility of H in Ba and the total amount of H present. Both ρ and S data for pure and H-charged Ba are explained semi-quantitatively using a simple model.
