Abstract
The electric fields of two two-dimensional conductors are investigated theoretically, and some of the conclusions are checked experimentally. The conductors are (a) a single semi-infinite rectangular cylinder charged externally, and (b) a single semi-infinite thin-walled hollow rectangular cylinder charged internally. Equipotentials and lines of force are obtained theoretically and also experimentally. Electric intensities, surface densities, total charges, capacities and mechanical forces on various objects are calculated. One or two special cases are discussed.
