Abstract
Studies on the rate of hydrolysis of sodium tetrahydroborate at pH 5.0 in an acetate buffer have shown that the rate of the reaction is significantly increased in the presence of nickel(II) and cobalt(II), but is affected only slightly by copper(II). The importance of these observations to the determination of arsenic(III) by hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry in the presence of these metal ions is discussed for both continuous flow and manual methods of analysis. Keywords
