Abstract
For original paper see J.E. Allen, ibid., vol.18, p.L59 (1985). The purpose of the communication is to respond to a recent critique of the authors' own analysis of field emission liquid metal ion sources. A new expression for the electrostatic term in the static equilibrium condition for stressed conducting liquid is derived and its physical significance is discussed. Keywords
