Abstract
The problem is studied by using a small-deformation-superposed-on-large-deformation analysis. It is found that a crack may buckle into infinitely many modes under one of a finite number of large crack-parallel compressive loads. Also, a crack-parallel tension has the effect of stiffening the crack when coupled with a small stress-intensity-producing load. Keywords
