Abstract
At Davis, California, Ladino clover florets were all visited and presumably pollinated daily by 2 to 3 honey bees per square yard. New buds opened only after mid-forenoon and bee visitation started shortly after. The avg. number of newly opening florets per day on a head was 8.2. Nectar was not visible until 3-6 hours after anthesis. The chief interest of bees was for pollen. Seed formation in a floret when protected against bee visitation was practically nil but seeds formed in most of the open pollinated florets. Many of these pods had 2-3 seeds each, range 0-6.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
