Abstract
The sonographic findings in 22 cases of benign and malignant focal lesions of the spleen are described. A variety of echo patterns was observed, and differential diagnosis was often impossible without contributory clinical data. In 8 patients, sonographically guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy was performed using a real-time linear array probe with a central aperture. Final diagnosis was possible in 5 cases avoiding surgery. The clinical usefulness of this procedure in the diagnosis of splenic masses is emphasized. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
