Anomalous spin-flip lifetime near the Heisenberg- ferromagnet critical point

Abstract
The inverse lifetime, 1τs, of spin-flip processes for the conduction electrons in a Heisenberg ferromagnet is calculated in the first Born approximation. It is found that the temperature derivative of 1τs varies as |TTc|2νγ1 and is negative above Tc and positive below Tc. Comparison is made with the behavior of the electrical resistivity near Tc. The impact upon the superconducting transition temperature is examined.
