Abstract
The EPPS was administered to 59 female Ss under social desirability instructions (SDI). Under SDI, and similar to males under SDI, Ach, Def, Ord, Aff, Nur, and End means were significantly higher than under standard instructions (Edwards' college norms), and Exh, Aut, Chg, Het, Agg, and Suc, were significantly lower. Whereas for males, the SDI-SI correlation is .19, for females it is .77. Such results suggest that the high SDI-SI correlations previously found by other investigators were mainly due to the contribution of the females' performance. Furthermore, performance of males and females under SDI correlates .88, indicating close agreement as to their choices of SD statements on the EPPS.Keywords
