Abstract
The comparative analysis of the flavonoid aglycones in the flowers of Arnica montana and Arnica chamissonis Less, showed that they were largely identical in their flavonoid pattern. Eleven known flavonoid aglycones (free and methylated) were identified from A. chamissonis subsp. foliosa var. incana, fifteen from A. chamissonis subsp. chamissonis and seven from A. montana. Among them were the rarely occurring laciniatin and dillenetin. In addition 3,5,7-trihydroxy-6,3′,4′-trimethoxyflavone could be identified from A. chamissonis subsp. chamissonis for the first time in nature. Keywords
