Abstract
Twelve cases of "granulomatous orchitis" were reviewed, clinically, grossly, and histologically. Evidence was presented to demonstrate that the granuloma-like lesions form on the basis of seminiferous tubules. The Sertoli cells were thought to be the precursors of the epithelioid cells of the granuloma-like lesions. Clinical information tends to support the role of trauma, particularly surgical in the genesis of the lesion. No clear-cut relationship between spermatozoa and the granuloma-like lesions could be shown. Granulomatous lesions were found in the epididymis of 5 of the cases and the rete testis of one. They were noted to be histologically different from those of the testis. Keywords
