Abstract
Friction coefficient for a wave-current combined motion is derived by using a two-layer eddy viscosity model based on the maximum shear stress. The results are compared with those deduced by a one-layer model which has been proposed by the authors. The measurements on the turbulent characteritics such as velocity profile, shear stress and distribution of eddy viscosity under oscillatory flows combined with unidirectional motions are performed in a wind tunnel. Experimental results are compared with the predicted values obtained by the authors' models. In addition, the instant when high frequency fluctuations appear is well predicted in terms of the pressure gradient parameter which has been introduced by Kline et al. in an investigation on bursting under unidirectional turbulent boundary layer. Keywords
