Abstract
A reliable and valid Parental Bonding Instrument was administered to young women who had attempted suicide. Results indicated low parental care and high overprotection. These results are consistent with theoretical formulations of suicidal behaviour, and taken with other studies help provide a profile of parental characteristics which may be associated with such behaviour. Keywords
