Abstract
Kinetics of the reaction between maleic anhydride and pyrocatechol in the solid phase have been studied over a range of temperatures and particle sizes. It is shown that diffusion occurs through surface migration. The nature of interaction has also been investigated using U. V., I. R. and reflectance spectra. It is concluded that charge‐transfer interaction is involved in the formation of the complex. Powder X‐ray diffraction studies show that crystals have tetragonal symmetry. Keywords
