Simultaneous Occurrence of Familial Benign Chronic Pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey Disease) and Syringoma on the Vulva

Abstract
To the Editor.— Hailey-Hailey disease and syringomas both occur in the vulva and are associated with pruritus. Recently we encountered a patient who had both these lesions in the vulva. We report this case to illustrate the need for both the dermatologist and the pathologist to be aware that these two pathological entities can coincidentally occur in the same area. Report of a Case.— The patient was a 39-year-old woman who was seen in 1972 at the Harbor General Hospital Gynecology Clinic, Torrance, Calif, complaining of a vaginal discharge and vulvar pruritus of three days' duration. Physical examination showed a white exudate in the vagina and on the labia majora. Monilia was identified in a hanging drop preparation. The symptoms soon resolved after treatment with nystatin ointment and vaginal suppositories. The patient remained asymptomatic until 1976 when a severe pruritus of the vulva again developed.
