Abstract
We developed a novel vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) structure with a hybrid top mirror consisting of a semiconductor DBR, an oxide layer, and a metal reflector enabling the post-growth determination of the emission wavelength of individual elements in a 2D laser array using anodic etching. The devices should prove to be useful for all-optical switching, free-space communication, and wavelength division multiplexing systems. Keywords
