Abstract
The possible toxicity and mutagenicity of a heated liquid fraction derived from palm oil by transesterification was tested with rats fed diets containing 15% of the oil and by various in vitro and chemical assays on the animals sera. No adverse effects of any kind were noted in the animals fed diets containing a high level of the oils, and the Ames Test failed to reveal a mutagenic potential in any of them. The chemical tests did not show any noteworthy undesirable changes, either. Keywords
