Virus detection on grapes

Abstract
Grapes inoculated with poliovirus 1 and coxsackievirus B5 were washed with water, 0.5% polyethylene glycol, or phosphate-buffered saline with 1% serum. These washes were equally efficient at removing virus but much of the virus in the water wash was noninfectious until treated with 0.5% polyethylene glycol.
