Abstract
A theoretical study of the helical aerial is made assuming that waves travel both axially and helically along it. It is shown that the existence of the helical waves is responsible for what are defined as low- and high-frequency cut-off points of the aerial. Consideration is also given to the effect of the ground plane of the aerial on its radiation pattern. Keywords
