Abstract
This paper presents a unified approach for computing the probability density function (pdf) of the acquisition time for pseudonoise (PN) search algorithms. This approach can be applied to arbitrary search strategies and a priori distributions of the code phase. Furthermore, it is shown that the mean and the variance of the acquisition time can be obtained directly without computing the pdf first. Keywords
