Abstract
Numerical optimisation techniques have been used to find the maximum gain of some specific parasitic arrays. The gain of an array of infinitely thin, equispaced dipoles loaded with arbitrary reactances has been optimised. The results show that standard travelling-wave design methods are not optimum. Yagi–Uda arrays with equal and unequal spacing have also been optimised with experimental verification.Keywords
