Abstract
Urinary tract infections result mostly from ascending infection by micro-organisms introduced by way of the urethra. Bacteria are the usual causative agents. Occasionally, yeasts notably Candida albicans, are involved. Females are more prone to acute infections than males because of shorter urethra and the higher risks of contamination in the females. Keywords
