Abstract
Exposure of anhydrous sodium nitroprusside to 60Co γ-rays at 77 K resulted in e.s.r. spectra of two species. One had g∥= 2·0142 and g⊥= 2·0716 at 77 K, with no resolved coupling to 14N. By comparison with data for other d5 pentacyanonitrosyls, it is concluded that this species is the pentacyanonitrosylferrate(III). The other species had g and 14N hyperfine tensors characteristic of librating nitric oxide. Keywords
