Abstract
The integrated concentration of growth hormone in plasma (ICGH) was measured in 5 normal prepubertal and 6 pubertal girls (8 specimens) over an 18–24 hr period and under conditions of normal activity. The mean ±sd ICGH of these girls was 5.0 ± 1.0 ng/ml which is similar to that previously reported for boys (5.6 ± 3.6 ng/ml). There was no difference in the ICGH of prepubertal and pubertal girls. The ICGH of the girls was not related to age or plasma estradiol; it was lower than the mean ICGH for adult women on oral contraceptives but significantly greater than the ICGH of normally menstruating women and of postmenopausal women on no medication. Keywords
