Effect of a Single Oral Dose of Triiodothyronine on the Subsequent Response to TRH in Normal Individuals

Abstract
The TSH response to the iv administration of 400 μg TRH in euthyroid subjects was slightly inhibited by the ingestion of 50 μg liothyronine (L-T3) 1 hr earlier. Serum T3 concentration was elevated following liothyronine ingestion in all subjects at the time of TRH testing. These results do not confirm previous observations that TRH responsiveness is completely abolished under similar conditions.
