The diagnosis of an anocutaneous ergotism was not arrived at before 10 months, treatment in several hospitals and two operations including a sigmoid colostomy. Complete healing within several weeks ensued from discontinuation of the suppositories. Symptoms, histological features, pathogenesis and therapy are discussed.
