Abstract
The interaction between human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and monocytes and the Lyme disease spirochete was investigated by incubating phagocytes with microorganisms adherent to plastic or glass surfaces. Both cell populations readily phagocytized and killed spirochetes, and antibodies facilitated but were not essential for phagocytosis. Keywords
