Abstract
An unequivocal chromosome count has been obtained for the first time in the fern family Loxsomaceae. Fifty pairs of chromosomes were observed at meiosis in Loxsoma cunninghamii, a number which is sufficiently distinct to indicate that the Loxsomaceae are not closely related to any other present day group of ferns.Keywords
