Chronic Maxillary Sinus Disease: A Report of Thirty-Three Caldwell-Luc Operations Performed in 1955-1956

Abstract
This is a report of 33 Caldwell-Luc operations performed during 15 consecutive months of 1955 and 1956 by the staff serving a bordering area of over 150,000 people. It is of particular interest in view of the number of radical sinus operations performed in a 15-month period, and the variety of pathology present. We have not included chronic maxillary sinus disease cases successfully treated medically or with less extensive surgery, such as antrum windows, or those complicated by other paranasal sinus infections. We have not at any time in the years prior to this series or since then had so many cases come to surgery during such a short period of time.
