Cross Section Ratios for ( $π^{\pm}, π N$ ) Reactions on ${}^{16}O$ near the $Δ (1236)$ Resonance

Abstract

Ratios of cross sections for 200-MeV

π^{\pm}

reactions on

{}^{16}O

leading to mirror levels in

{}^{15}O

and

{}^{15}N

, observed by their

γ

decays, were measured and compared. For the first

{\frac{3}{2}}^{-}

levels, the ratios are

{(\frac{{}^{15}O}{{}^{15}N})}_{π^{-}} = 1.7 \pm 0.4

and

{(\frac{{}^{15}O}{{}^{15}N})}_{π^{+}} = \frac{1}{(1.8 \pm 0.4)}

, indicating charge symmetry.
