Power

Abstract
Nurse executives are failing to unite staff on important professional issues. One major reason for this failure is that nurses remain divided on the fundamental issue of “power as good versus power as bad.” This article discusses how 201 first level, middle level, and executive level nurses identified acceptable and unacceptable uses of power. The findings suggest that, before unification on key issues is possible, the basic areas of disagreement between administrative nursing personnel must be addressed.
