Abstract
The reaction of leptospiral antisera with an antigen composed of polystyrene latex particles and formalin-killed leptospirae provides the basis for a simple, macroscopic tube agglutination test for leptospirosis. The latex-leptospiral agglutination test compares favorably in sensitivity and specificity with standard agglutination-lysis and microscopic agglutination tests; it has the additional advantages of simplicity, rapidity of performance, and a stable, non-infectious antigen.
