Abstract
Incised marks have been observed on numerous potteries at Mehrgarh. The aim of this article is to try to find out the signification of these marks or, at least to show some of the possible uses, by studying elements furnished by the site excavations. Numbering marks, for control, or trade marks, these signs announce, in any case the characters of a system of writing of which we have no trace.
